Sexual Health Week

At Sex Out Loud, we are really excited about this year’s Sexual Health Week (SHW). It has really evolved over the years into a month of events where the main goal is to provide UW students with the opportunity to explore different facets of sexual health.  Two events that we look forward to every year are Sexual Health Fest and our guest speaker.  This year we are so proud to have the world-famous historian, Tony Perrottet.  Tony travels the world looking for the history of sexual artifacts.  You may have seen him as a frequent blogger for the Museum of Sex in NYC and you can hear his guest lecture in the Education Building on Friday, April 27th at 6 pm.  Sexual Health Fest (SHF) is a collaboration of Sex Out Loud’s staff, UW student organizations and community resources.  The best way to explore SHF is to check out the booths, play the games, make an edible vulva and have a lot of fun!  If you are interested in learning more about campus organizations and resources, especially with recent politics, this is a great venue to do so at Library Mall from 11 am to 3 pm also on that Friday.

Other intriguing events for Sexual Health Week include a book discussion on the recent popular fiction trilogy, 50 Shades of Grey.  Sex Out Loud staff members will discuss the importance of communication and consent in the relationship between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, two of the main characters of this popular series that dives into relationships involving kink.  Madison Doula, Amy Gilliland, will be sharing information on what it is like to be a Doula, the qualifications and more information on alternative birthing practices.  This is definitely fascinating information for any stage of life that you may be in.   Sex Out Loud is teaming up with PAVE to put on a specialty program called, The Sexy Way to Party in collaboration with All Campus Party on Tuesday, April 24th. We have two of our most popular and sought after events with Miss Pole and the student organization, Yes+ Badgers.  If you are interested in learning pole dance techniques or how yoga can improve your sex life, make sure to register online for April 18th and 25th! Spots are limited to those who register. One of our last events, on May 3rd, will be co-hosted by PhD student, Isadora Leidenfrost, on her research with the book, The Red Tent.  The Sex Out Loud office will be transformed into a red tent and participants will be able to see clips from Isadora’s documentary as well as discuss the prevalence of red tent culture around the world.

Peace, Love and Sex Positivity!
